DETROIT – A driver who fled police after drag racing in Detroit was arrested after he pulled into a garage, officials said.

Michigan State Police troopers said they tried to pull the car over at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, April 7, 2024, in the area of westbound I-96 and Joy Road in Detroit for drag racing.

The 20-year-old Detroit man driving the car fled and pulled into a garage, where he was taken into custody, police said.

“As the weather gets warmer, we start to see reckless driving pick up,” Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said. “We are continuing to work with our local partners to make sure those drivers who put our community at risk are located and held accountable.”

Prosecutors are reviewing the case for charges.
