Police bust suspected chop shop on Detroit’s east side

DETROIT – An illegal chop show was reportedly raided on Detroit’s east side Monday, April 15.

Neighbors said dozens of police officers surrounded the home, located near the intersection of Pinewood and Barlow streets.

Neighbors said they were surprised something like this happened so close and that nothing seems to ever happen on the block.

“Everybody that’s been here, been here for years,” said one neighbor.

He said he had lived in the area for nearly four decades and never saw anything out of the ordinary before Monday, April 15, when police spent hours on-site with speculation of the location having to do with potentially being an illegal chop shop according to police.

“I’m not too familiar with stolen cars, but I know people do steal cars,” the man said. “Ain’t nobody over here ever had their car stolen on this block.”

Police haven’t released many details regarding the search, but neighbors believe no one in the area is to blame.
