Popular Detroit bar in Corktown to close Owner teases new plans for Trumbull Avenue building

DETROIT – A popular bar in Detroit’s Corktown is closing down on June 15.
According to a post on the UFO Factory’s Instagram page , the last day for the venue will be June 15. Dion Fischer, the owner of the bar, said they were moving on and getting out of the restaurant/bar industry.
“It’s been a real cool time but we are moving on to other projects - it’s time!” Fischer posted.
The bar will keep its regular hours and menu until it closes. Fischer expressed appreciation for the community’s support of the UFO Factory and teased that there were new plans for the Trumbull Avenue building.
“You are likely to be pleased with the next evolution,” Fischer wrote. “More info coming soon.”
UFO Factory in Corktown is known for its music, movies, live music and diverse selection of hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches .
The bar was closed down for more than a year in 2017-18 after a nearby construction project nearly knocked down a wall and damaged the foundation .
