Macomb County man sentenced for arson at ex-girlfriend’s home

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A 31-year-old Riley Township man was sentenced Tuesday, Aug. 6, for the arson of his ex-girlfriend’s house.

According to authorities, Zachary Zielonka pled no contest in June to second-degree arson and first-degree home invasion. The charges stem from a September 2023 incident in Richmond Township , in which Zielonka reportedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s garage and set a vehicle on fire .
Two adults and three children were able to escape without injury and the homeowner reportedly was able to identify Zielonka after seeing him run from the scene.
Zielonka was sentenced Tuesday, Aug. 6, to 30 months to 20 years behind bars for both charges.
