Westland woman purposely crashes into multiple cars, leaving pedestrian badly hurt

WESTLAND, Mich. – A Westland woman purposely crashed into multiple cars and severely injured a pedestrian, police said.

The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, in the 34000 block of Florence Street.

When officers got to the scene, they said they found the 43-year-old Westland woman sitting in her car at a crash site. She was taken into custody.

A 32-year-old Westland man was severely injured. Police said it’s a leg injury.

Alcohol and drugs appear to have been a factor, officials said.

Members of the Westland Police Traffic Bureau continue to investigate. They will submit their findings to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for a charging decision.

The woman is expected to be arraigned at 18th District Court after charges are approved.
