Warren police surprise injured officer’s family with Christmas joy

WARREN, Mich. – An injured police officer’s family received a festive surprise Wednesday night from local law enforcement and community.

Warren police officer Nick Kott suffered a critical injury while off-duty. While he is in an out-of-state hospital, his wife, Holli, has been staying by his side. Their son, Jack, is spending the holidays with family in Michigan.

The Warren Police Department, Warren Fire Department, Roseville Police Department, Center Line Department of Public Safety, Chesterfield Township Police Department, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Waterford Police Department, Vann’s Towing and Landscape Services of Clinton Township organized a surprise parade to brighten the holiday season for Jack.

On Dec. 11, 2024, a convoy of nearly 40 emergency vehicles decorated with lights headed to the Kott home. Santa and Mrs. Claus also appeared and gave wrapped presents to Jack and a small group of friends.

Nick and Holli, while they were at the out-of-state hospital, were able to watch the magical moment unfold thanks to the efforts of TV Warren.

“As we celebrate the holidays, let us keep the Kott family in our thoughts and prayers,” said the Warren Police Department. “May the spirit of Christmas bring them strength, comfort, and hope during these trying times.”

The Kott family has a GoFundMe to help with Nick’s recovery.
