Detroit City Council unanimously approves Todd Bettison as Chief of Police

DETROIT – Todd Bettison has officially been approved by the Detroit City Council as the city’s latest chief of police.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan announced Tuesday, Feb. 18, that the City Council voted unanimously for Bettison to take the role.

Duggan selected Bettison as his pick earlier this month.

Bettison has been serving as the city’s interim police chief since former chief James White decided to step down from the position to lead the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network.

Bettison was appointed as interim chief in October and has been with the Detroit Police Department for the past 27 years.
