Michigan man rescued from 187-degree, carbon monoxide-filled home

A welfare check in Muskegon Heights escalated into a rescue mission when police discovered a man using his gas stove to heat his home, causing dangerous carbon monoxide levels.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, Muskegon Heights police responded to a call from a concerned family member and went to the man’s home to check on him

Police said he was using his gas stove to heat his home, which reached 187 degrees and flooded the air with carbon monoxide. He reportedly had a broken carbon monoxide detector.

Police said the man is expected to make a full recovery.
