Troopers learned that the victim was at Dix Avenue, south of I-75, and when they arrived at the scene, Lincoln Park police and EMS were already there.
The driver, a 47-year-old River Rouge woman, told authorities that she was traveling in the right lane on southbound I-75 when a red car pulled up next to her and started shooting at her from the center lane.
The only other detail the woman could provide about the suspect vehicle was that its windows were tinted, according to police.
The shooting left multiple bullet holes in the victim’s vehicle.
The driver had minor injuries and declined medical attention, while her passenger, a 19-year-old from River Rouge, wasn’t injured.
“The freeway was closed for four hours as canines searched the freeway for evidence,” said Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw. “We are asking anyone who may have seen this incident to contact the Metro South Post or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP.”
