Call about parents fighting in West Bloomfield leads to police standoff

Man safely taken into custody

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – A call about parents fighting in West Bloomfield led to a standoff between armed officers and a barricaded man, police said.

West Bloomfield Township police were called at 3:25 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, about a domestic issue at a home in the 5400 block of Hammersmith Drive.

The caller told police that his parents had gotten into a fight. When officers arrived, they learned that the father had barricaded himself inside the home.

Crisis negotiators with the Southwest Oakland Special Response Team spoke to the man through a megaphone.

He eventually left the home and was safely taken into custody, police said.

The case is still under investigation.
