2 dead after car crashes into building on Detroit’s east side

Family of four involved in crash, family member says

DETROIT – Two people are dead after a car crashed into a building on Detroit’s east side early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened in the area of Gratiot and French Road on July 30. Police shut down the road for hours as they investigated the scene.

A cousin of the people involved in the crash told Local 4 at the scene that a family of four was in the vehicle. The cousin said a brother was in town to visit, and they were heading home.

Detroit police said two died at the scene, one was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and the other is stable. All passengers were adults.

Police believe the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
