Here’s your chance to go on small business walking tours in different cities.
City Institute, known for its educational programs and guided tours focused on Detroit, is launching its inaugural series of small business walking tours in suburban locations including Mount Clemens, Dearborn, Berkley, and Pontiac.
Tours begin Saturday, Aug. 16 in Mount Clemens. Additional tours are scheduled for Dearborn, Berkley, and Pontiac. Here is the complete lineup for the free downtown walking tours:
- Mount Clemens: 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, and Saturday, September 20; starting point is Champagne Chocolates at 65 Macomb Place.
- Berkley: 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 23; beginning at Ullman’s Health and Beauty, 2816 Coolidge Highway.
- West Dearborn: 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 6; starting at Qahwah House, 22000 Michigan Avenue.
- Pontiac: 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 27; launching from Pontiac Transportation Museum, 250 W. Pike Street.
The series kicked off with a tour in West Dearborn last July, spotlighting small businesses along Michigan Avenue and West Village Drive such as Westborn Market, Black Box Coffee Shop & Art, L.A. Bistro, Turkish Village Cuisine, and Galata Sweets.
Apart from these public small business tours, City Institute provides private tours for groups and organizations throughout the year.
