A Detroit teacher and coach accused of sexually assaulting a student is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
Nathan Lemuel Tedford, a teacher at East English Village Preparatory Academy, allegedly lured an 18-year-old student to his home, claiming he could provide chiropractic treatment on May 29, where he sexually assaulted the teen.
Prosecutors said the victim went along with it because he was in fear.

Tedford was charged on June 16 with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. His bond was initially set at $30,000, and he was ordered to have no contact with anyone under 18.
On June 18, Tedford’s bond was raised to $50,000, and he was ordered to have no contact with anyone under 21.
Detroit Public Schools Community District confirmed that Tedford was initially placed on paid leave, but following the filing of charges, he is now on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Tedford is expected to appear in court on Aug. 27 at 11:30 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.
In the hearing, a judge will determine if there is enough evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office to send the case to a jury trial.
