Detroit City Football Club terminates employee following arrest for alleged terrorist threats

Employee remains in custody at the Madison County Jail pending further disposition of his charges

Detroit City Football Club employee Jarrett M. Maki, 25, has been terminated following his arrest and charges related to making terrorist threats.

Maki was charged with 11 felony counts of making terrorist threats in Madison County.

He was detained at the World-Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, with assistance from the Madison Police Department before being taken into custody on Saturday (Sept. 6) by East Alton investigators.

Police said Maki was booked at the East Alton Police Department, interviewed, and remanded to the Madison County Jail pending felony charges.

On Sept. 8, 2025, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office formally charged Maki with 11 counts of making a terrorist threat, a Class X felony.

Meanwhile, Austin Blair, who was previously detained in connection with the case, was released from custody after his formal detention hearing.

Detroit City FC said they were made aware of the situation on Sept. 10, 2025, and immediately suspended Maki from all club activities, removing his access to systems and facilities.

They stated that while charges have been issued, they do not constitute proof of guilt.

DCFC emphasized that its priority remains the well-being of its staff, supporters, and participants.

“We have terminated Mr. Maki effective today,” the club said in a statement.

DCFC also noted that it has not been contacted by law enforcement and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

As this is an ongoing legal matter, the club declined to provide additional comments.
