OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A boil water advisory has been issued for parts of Oakland County on Thursday morning following a water main break.
The water main break happened on 14 Mile Road, just west of M-5, in the city of Novi on Sept. 25, 2025.
Novi city officials said the process to restore the water main could take several hours.
Boil water advisories were issued as a precautionary measure following a loss of pressure from the water main break, Oakland County officials said.
Schools in the areas impacted closed Thursday morning.
Below are the maps of those who are impacted by the water main break and are under a boil water advisory:

What to do under a boil water advisory
Boiling water will kill bacteria and other organisms that may be in the water.
According to Oakland County officials, water should be boiled for at least one minute and allowed to cool before consumption.
Boiled, bottled or disinfected water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food until further notice.
The boil water advisory will be lifted once the laboratory confirms the water is safe to drink, officials said.
