WALLED LAKE, Mich. – A bail water advisory in Walled Lake that was issued last week due to a water main break has been lifted.
“There is no need to boil water before using it for consumption if you are a resident or business in Walled Lake,” the city said in a release.
The bail water advisory for Novi is still in effect.
All residents are asked to limit outdoor water usage until final repairs are completed by the Great Lakes Water Authorities.
Residents should do the following:
- Turn on your tap slowly and run the water to flush water pipes for five minutes.
- Empty your automatic ice maker completely and discard the ice made during the advisory period; then, run a few cycles of ice production and throw those batches away as well to fully flush the water line in the ice maker before using the ice again.
The water main break happened on 14 Mile Road, just west of M-5, in the city of Novi on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025.
Boil water advisories were issued as a precautionary measure following a loss of pressure from the water main break, Oakland County officials said.
Below are the maps of those who are impacted by the water main break and are under a boil water advisory:

What to do under a boil water advisory
Boiling water will kill bacteria and other organisms that may be in the water.
According to Oakland County officials, water should be boiled for at least one minute and allowed to cool before consumption.
Boiled, bottled or disinfected water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food until further notice.
The boil water advisory will be lifted once the laboratory confirms the water is safe to drink, officials said.
