Friend recalls alarming behavior from man before Grand Blanc Township church attack

GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Local 4 learned more about the man behind this deadly church attack in Grand Blanc Township.

Just days before the violence, a friend of the 40-year-old Burton man says he was acting strangely toward her and her daughter, making unsettling comments about his truck and even pretending to run them over.

Now, those red flags are taking on new meaning as investigators search for a motive.

Investigators say they’re piecing together every detail — from the suspect’s behavior to the weapons and explosives found — hoping to answer the community’s biggest question: why this church, and why now?
