Man convicted of murder in Hazel Park shooting that killed 2

HAZEL PARK, Mich. – A 33-year-old man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after a jury found him guilty of murder.

Keko Martin was convicted Friday, Sept. 26, of two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of two men in Hazel Park.

Eddie Matthews and Nathan Jacobs were in the parking lot of a banquet hall during a memorial service in January 2022 when a group of men approached and fired into the car. They died at the scene.

Additionally, Martin was found guilty of two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, four counts of felony firearm and habitual offender third offense.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 18.

A second suspect, Ricco Hicks, has not yet been arrested and remains a wanted fugitive.
