There’s study about the most popular pumpkin food in every state. Coffeeness rallied up google trends date and found what people are searching for the most.
Pumpkin bread is the most searched across 20 states in the South and Mountain West regions. The trendy pumpkin spice latte tops searches in only one state.
The most popular item searched in Michigan, Florida, New York and Texas is pumpkin soup. Coffeeness says the velvety soup is combined with roasted pumpkin with aromatic vegetables, herbs and a splash of cream or coconut milk.
“The preference in Florida, Michigan, New York and Texas reflects cosmopolitan food cultures where diners embrace complex flavors,” Coffeeness says in a press release.
Pumpkin spice latte is most popular in South Dakota. The traditional pumpkin pie that might be the center piece for desserts on Thanksgiving is most searched in only 2 states – Wyoming and North Dakota.
Coffeeness has a fun fact about pumpkin pie. “It’s estimated that Americans consume over 50 million pumpkin pies during Thanksgiving week alone, yet the filing in many commercial pumpkin pies is actually made from a winter squash called Dickinson pumpkin, which is smoother and more flavorful than traditional jack-o-lantern pumpkins,” Coffeeness says.
