Video: Carjacking suspect arrested in Metro Detroit after leading police chase in sparking car

Suspect tased, arrested after leaving car, running across freeway

Police released video of a chase involving a carjacking suspect, where officers received help from Michigan State Police’s helicopter.

Michigan State Police posted a video to X on Oct. 10, showing state police’s helicopter, Trooper 2, providing overwatch for officers who were chasing a carjacking suspect.

Details about the suspect or where the chase happened in Metro Detroit were not provided by Michigan State Police in the social post.

The video was dated Oct. 8, 2025, at around 10:30 p.m.

“We continue to see that these suspects do not care who they hurt when they try to get away,” said F/Lt Mike Shaw. “Great work by officers on the ground and the crew of Trooper 2 as another bad guy goes to jail tired.”

In the video, the officers in the helicopter were telling the officers when the car was slowing down and where the suspect began running away.

Footage from the helicopter’s point of view showed the stolen car sparking as the suspect was trying to drive away from officers.

At one point in the video, the stolen car comes to a stop, and the suspect gets out of the car, jumps the median, and then runs across the freeway. The suspect tried to climb out of the overpass, but was then tased and arrested by police.
