FERNDALE, Mich. – A new restaurant in downtown Ferndale is firing up its smokers bringing the aroma of barbecue to the city’s dining scene.
Ferndale resident Dana Taucher opened Smokehaus Ferndale at 177 Vester St., formerly M-Brew and Scout Vester. According to Crain’s, Scout Vester closed in December after about four months in business.
Smokehaus Ferndale is located across the street from Taucher’s restaurant, Syndicate Ferndale. Taucher opened Syndicate Ferndale in 2023 at the historic location which was once Ferndale City Glass Co.
Smokehaus Ferndale menu has a variety of meats including brisket, shaved roast beef, pork belly and chicken. The menu also includes cauliflower burnt ends, burgers, sandwiches and salads. Drink options include a variety of draft and bottled beers, along with wine and non-alcoholic beverages. A list of “Haus Cocktails” includes a smoked old-fashioned, espresso martini and its “Hausarita” margarita.
Earlier this year, Taucher took over the lease for the former Bobcat Bonnies that closed its Ferndale location, according to Crain’s.
Smokehaus Ferndale has space for 100 guests inside and 50 seats on the outside patio. It’s open Tuesday-Thursday from 4 p.m. – 11 p.m., and Friday-Saturday from 4 p.m. – 12 a.m.
