Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick to lie in Detroit at Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History

She is survived by two children, including former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick

DETROIT – Funeral arrangements are set for Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick.

The former congresswoman will lie in Detroit on Monday (Oct.20) in the rotunda of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, with the public welcome from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at noon at Greater Emmanuel Church of God in Christ.

Kilpatrick, who died at 80, was a Detroit native, teacher, and 18-year veteran of the Michigan State House before representing the 13th District in Congress from 1997 to 2011.

She is survived by two children, including former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
