Officials said the forced entries occurred at homes on the 23000 block of Vance Avenue, the 300 block of Chestnut Avenue, the 23300 block of Hazelwood Avenue, the 1100 block of E. Hayes Avenue, and the 1300 block of E. Harry Avenue.

Police said the total value of stolen appliances was estimated at $10,087.

Police said vacant rental homes are easy targets for thieves because of frequent strangers coming and going, and that neighbors may be less likely to notice suspicious activity.

Officials and detectives have canvassed the neighborhoods and are seeking any video footage or information that could assist in the investigations.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity, especially if they see strangers moving large items out of homes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hazel Park Detective Bureau at 248-542-6161 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
