A winter weather advisory is in effect for Macomb and St. Clair counties from 6 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday.

Lake-effect snow bands are expected to develop Sunday evening and continue overnight into early Monday.

Areas with persistent lake-effect snow could see 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts possible.

Rain and snow showers will change completely to snow late Sunday night and continue through Monday, thanks to a northwest flow kicking in.

This typical lake-effect snow event will also bring a reinforcing blast of colder air at the start of next week.

High temperatures will drop into the mid-30s Sunday night and fall further into the low to mid-30s by Monday.

Monday morning will be chilly, with gusty winds causing wind chills in the single digits to low teens, so be sure to bundle up before heading out.
