Rx Kids expands to Wayne County -- what to know

A program aimed at helping mothers and new families is expanding into Wayne County.

Rx Kids gives pregnant mothers $1,500 during pregnancy and $500 per month for the first six months of a child’s life. It has already given $17 million to more than 3,900 families in Michigan.

The program got a big boost in the state budget.

Wayne County Commissioners just approved $7.5 million to expand it into multiple communities in Wayne County.
