At the museum, guests will be able to see the bus where Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man, prompting her arrest on Dec. 1, 1955.

Parks’ arrest marked a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights Movement and sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which was a nearly 400-day protest that ended with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that segregation on buses was unconstitutional.

Visitors will also be able to learn more about the Montgomery Bus Boycott and other artifacts connected to Parks in the “With Liberty and Justice for All” exhibit.

The Henry Ford is located at 20900 Oakwood Boulevard in Dearborn. For more information about the museum and its other venues, which include Greenfield Village and the Ford Rouge Factory Tour, click here.
