More snow is expected in Metro Detroit this week!

Here’s everything to know about when the snow arrives, and what to expect:

Tuesday morning

Snow chances will increase around the morning rush hour drive on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025.

That will bring a minor coating, but just enough to create slick spots for the morning commute.

There will be a lull from late morning through sunset.

Tuesday evening

By late evening on Tuesday, a rain/snow mix will arrive in Metro Detroit.

The precipitation type will depend on where you live.

With additional opportunities for accumulating snow, we could see a total of a half inch to 1.5 inches by the end of Tuesday.

Wednesday

The snow will likely change over to liquid rain for most of Southeast Michigan overnight into early Wednesday.

Highs in the Metro area will be close to average in the mid to upper 30s.

However, areas along/north of I-69 will trend cooler and could maintain all snow, leading to accumulations in excess of 3 inches in the Thumb.

This warm-up is brief, which means we could see a refreeze across the region later in the day on Wednesday.

Colder air returns Wednesday evening, bringing a chance of light snow.

Untreated areas such as sidewalks and driveways may develop icy patches.
