A letter dated Dec. 8, signed by brothers and co-owners Andrzej and Roman Mucha, was posted on the restaurant’s door and shared in the Downriver and Friends Facebook group. They described the decision to end the business after 38 years as “difficult” and expressed heartfelt appreciation to their loyal patrons and dedicated staff.

“For nearly four decades, our restaurant has been our family dream, our life’s work, and most importantly, part of your lives and family tradition,” the owners wrote.

Polonus opened in 1988 and built a following for traditional Polish dishes such as stuffed cabbage, pierogi, city chicken and other classics. The restaurant is located on Biddle Avenue just north of Ford/Northline Road, near the northern part of Wyandotte.

Polonus is located at 1744 Biddle Ave., Wyandotte. Hours are 2–7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, noon–5 p.m. Sunday and closed on Mondays.
