Wyandotte police officers save 2 men from jumping into Detroit River
WYANDOTTE, Mich. – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said suicidal thoughts have increased in all age groups since the pandemic began. This month, Wyandotte police helped save two men -- one in his early 30′s the other in his late 50s -- from jumping in the Detroit River. Detroit Health Department monitors bar crowds as people celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Wyandotte welcomes St. Patrick’s Day visitors to open container ‘social district’
WYANDOTTE, Mich. – March 17 marks St. Patrick Day, and although the bars aren’t packed as previous years, Wyandotte is allowing several bars in the city’s social district to follow the new open container rules so customers can drink while still being socially distant. Stranger steps forward to help Metro Detroit man after thief takes $700 from wallet
WYANDOTTE, Mich. – A man was caught on camera taking money out of wallet sitting on a store counter. The wallet was accidentally left by a 72-year-old man at the Shopper’s Valley store in Wyandotte. The man said when he realized he left it, he rushed back and found it in the same place. The man said the money was saved up to pay for his property taxes. Wyandotte police located and arrested the man accused of stealing the money.

Wyandotte police use social media to return stolen blanket to rightful owner
WYANDOTTE, Mich. – When Tonyia Gill had a custom-made keepsake blanket made for her best friend, she never thought the blanket would make headlines. One of those stolen items was Gill’s blanket, but without the packaging, police weren’t sure who it belonged to. They posted a photo of the blanket on social media and asked if anyone knew the woman in the photos on the blanket. Gill started getting phone calls that day from people asking if the blanket was hers within 24 hours, the stolen blanket was returned. The suspected thief is facing seven counts of mail theft and potentially seven years imprisonment.

Kaylee is a senior at Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte. She founded the People’s Project to help battle youth mental illness. “The People’s Project is very near and dear to her heart," said Kaylee’s dad, Jerry Barton. "One of her best friends committed suicide several years ago and it deeply affected her, and still does.
