STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A Sterling Heights man will spend 80 months in federal prison for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud scheme.

According to authorities, Isaia Okoh billed Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for prescription medications that he did not dispense.

From 2019 to 2022, Okoh and a co-conspirator submitted false claims to healthcare benefit programs for prescription drugs that were not ordered by a doctor and not dispensed to the patient. They reportedly forged prescriptions from doctors to conceal their scheme, when the patient had never actually seen the listed doctor.

They reportedly caused more than $6 million in losses to Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Okoh pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud in April and was ordered to pay nearly $4 million in restitution and more than $3 million in forfeiture.

In October, he was sentenced to 80 months in prison.
