DETROIT – A child and a woman were shot on Christmas Eve on Detroit’s east side.
The shooting happened at around 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 24 in the 19000 block of Binder Street.
When police arrived at the scene, officers found that numerous bullets had gone through the house. While they investigated the scene, they learned the 1-year-old and 24-year-old who were shot went to a family member’s home nearby to ask for help.
Detroit Police Deputy Chief Arnold Williams said a 1-year-old baby was shot in the leg and a 24-year-old woman was shot in the hand. Both were taken to a local hospital and are expected to be okay.
According to Williams, a person may have gotten out of a car and fired shots at the house. No suspects were arrested.
Williams said this may have been related to an earlier incident, but the investigation is ongoing.
