Macomb County child care worker sentenced to probation in abuse of 10-month-old Franz to serve initial jail time before probationary period

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A Macomb County child care worker has been sentenced to probation for the abuse of a 10-month-old infant who was in her care.
Samantha Franz was convicted of second-degree and fourth-degree child abuse in November .
She was charged after a co-worker reportedly saw her being “excessively rough” with the 10-month-old .
Video from the childcare facility revealed repeated aggressive and abusive behavior toward the 10-month-old.
The recordings allegedly captured Franz swinging the baby, carrying her by the arms, dropping her into her crib, and forcefully shoving a pacifier into the crying child’s mouth.
On Thursday, Jan. 15, Franz was sentenced to two years’ probation, with the first 45 days to be served in the Macomb County Jail.
