Fire investigators search for man who set home on fire on Detroit’s east side

Fire crews extinguished the fire, and thankfully, no one was injured

DETROIT – The Detroit Fire Investigation Division, a joint task force between the Detroit police and Fire departments, is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest connected to an arson in the summer of 2025.

The incident occurred on Aug. 25, 2025, at 3:30 a.m. in the 9100 block of Isham Avenue on Detroit’s east side.

Fire crews extinguished the fire, and thankfully, no one was injured.

Investigators obtained video footage showing the man wearing white sneakers, blue jeans, and a black short-sleeved jacket over a white shirt.

The video shows the man dousing the front porch of the home with gasoline, setting it on fire, and then fleeing the scene.

A reward of $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in connection with this incident.
