Ypsilanti teen caught by K-9 after attempted Wayne County car burglary

Suspect wanted for multiple car thefts

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – A 19-year-old man from Ypsilanti was arrested in Plymouth after reportedly breaking into a car.

It happened early Thursday, Feb. 5, at a home near the intersection of Provincetown Lane and Lexington Street.

According to authorities, the homeowner exited his home and saw the teen rummaging through his car. He reportedly chased the 19-year-old down the street before losing him.

Plymouth police reached out to Michigan State Police for a K-9 to help locate the suspect, who was found just north of the area at about 2 a.m.

The suspect was identified as a 19-year-old man from Ypsilanti who reportedly had several warrants for stealing from cars and stealing cars.

He was turned over to the Plymouth Police Department.
