Spring in Michigan brings many things—flowers, warmer weather, and road construction.
Next month, a major project will begin along I-94 to improve the freeway for drivers and nearby residents.
A public information meeting was held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, to discuss the Restore I-94 Project.
The work will cover nearly 13 miles, stretching from just east of I-275 to just west of Michigan Avenue.
The project includes concrete repairs, drainage improvements, and ramp work to enhance safety and driving conditions.
Bill Urban, project manager for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), said residents can expect less noise once the work is complete.
“There’s bridge work and sound walls getting worked on as well,” Urban said. “We’re building a new noise wall going westbound to help shield the traffic noise from residents, too. So, it’s been quite an honor taking on the design phase, and we’re trying to work with local residents to come out to these meetings.”
