DETROIT – A project could soon change Detroit’s landscape.
The I-75 Cap Project aims to reconnect neighborhoods with Downtown Detroit using I-75.
What is a cap?
A cap is a deck over the freeway to create usable land and provide space for parks and plazas, while lowering air pollution.
The main area of focus is over I-75 between the Brush Park and lower Cass neighborhoods.
The feasibility study is underway, and Detroiters can share their input on what the design of the cap will look like. The study goes until later this year.
Elise Fields, the senior director of Urban Innovation with Downtown Detroit Partnership, joined Local 4 Live to talk about the project and how people can share their input. You can watch the full interview at the beginning of this article.
