20-year-old woman killed in Wayne County mobile home community shooting; suspect in custody

Officials said two additional individuals were detained for questioning

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A 20-year-old woman was shot and killed in a Wayne County mobile home community.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (March 18), when the Sumpter Township Police Department responded around 4:10 p.m. to Edgewood Drive in the Rawsonville Woods Mobile Home Community.

When officers arrived, they said they found the woman lying in the street with a gunshot wound to her upper torso.

Police said officers attempted lifesaving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a man has been taken into custody.

Officials said two additional individuals were detained for questioning.

Investigators said the victim and those detained knew each other.

Officials emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The case remains under active investigation, and police said they will release updates as more information becomes available.
