National Weather Service to determine if tornado touched down in Wayne County on Saturday

Van Buren Township, MI – After a roller coaster of weather over the last few days, parts of the region are cleaning up after severe weather, and a possible tornado touched down in Wayne County on Saturday Evening.

Just after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, the National Weather Service in Detroit issued a Tornado Warning for the heart of Wayne County, including areas like Belleville and Van Buren Township.

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has told Local 4 News that they will conduct a damage assessment today to determine whether the damage we are looking at is severe thunderstorm wind damage or an actual tornado touchdown.

Local 4’s Kyla Russell and Amaya Kuznicki were in Van Buren Township Saturday Night and into Sunday Morning looking at some of the damage from the severe weather on Saturday afternoon & early evening.
