ROMULUS, Mich. – Officials at Detroit Metro Airport intercepted a dreamcatcher made of a monkey skull and python bones.
These items are both protected species that require permits, dead or alive.

According to the U.S customs and Border control website certain wildlife are subject to import and export restrictions, prohibitions, permits or certificates, as well as requirements.
The custom border protections (CBP) recommends that you review the U.S. Fish and Wildlife page and contact the The CBP recommends that you contact the USFWS, CDC, and USDA’s APHIS Veterinary Services (VS) for more information before you depart if you plan to import or export any of the following:
Wild birds, land or marine mammals, reptiles, fish, shellfish, mollusks or invertebrates;
Any part or product of the above, such as skins, tusks, bone, feathers, or eggs; or
Products or articles manufactured from wildlife or fish.
Endangered wildlife, and products made from them, generally may not be imported or exported.
