Alzheimer’s cases could double by 2060 -- but a new blood test offers hope

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month

Blood tests can identify Alzheimer’s-related changes in the brain earlier than before.

Neurologists say the tests are not a definitive prediction of the development of the disease and are not recommended for those already experiencing symptoms.

According to experts, more than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, that number is expected to double by 2060.

Research shows up to 45% of cases may be preventable through regular exercise, staying socially connected and keeping your heart healthy.

Dr. Marina Novikova, behavioral neurologist at Henry Ford, joined Local 4 Live to tell us about what you need to know about the disease.
