Gas prices in Michigan are continuing to trend down, with prices across the state averaging about 18 cents lower than they were a week ago.
AAA reports that drivers are paying around $4.01 per gallon for regular unleaded — roughly 73 cents less than they were this time last month, but still 72 cents higher than they were in June of last year.

That amounts to around $60 on average for a full 15-tank of gas, or about $9 more than the highest price reported in August 2025.
The most expensive averages reported by AAA were in Metro Detroit ($4.12), Ann Arbor ($4.12), Jackson ($3.95), with the least expensive averages reported in Grand Rapids ($3.83), Traverse City ($3.84), Marquette ($3.90).
In Metro Detroit, the current average is around 13 cents less than last week, but still 83 cents more than this time last year.
Domestic gasoline supply decreased from 215.1 million barrels to 214.2 million, according to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), while gasoline demand increased from 8.73 million barrels per day to 9.21 million.
