16-month-old hospitalized after accidental shooting inside Jackson apartment

Police said the toddler was shot in the stomach and taken to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor

JACKSON, Mich. – A 16-month-old is in the hospital following an accidental shooting in Jackson.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (June 30) at the Southridge Park Apartments on Warwick Court.

Police said the toddler was shot in the stomach and taken to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor.

The child’s condition is not known at this time.

Police say the shooting was accidental, and a 25-year-old Jackson man has been arrested for violating Michigan’s Safe Storage Law and is expected to be arraigned soon.
