2 in custody after a breaking-in then setting fire to a weed shop in Michigan

According to authorities their names are being withheld pending formal arraignment in the 1st District Court

MONROE, Mich. – Two are now in custody after breaking-in and setting fire to a weed shop in Monroe.

Monroe County Central Dispatch received a call at around 2 a.m. on July 12 for an alarm activation at Dacut Cannabis Company located at 14921 LaPlaisance Road in Monroe, MI.

Deputies say when they arrived on the scene they discovered a broken window and the building’s interior on fire.

According to investigators, two suspects forced entry into the building, poured an accelerant inside, ignited it and fled on foot.

Police say, additional responding units arrived to establish a perimeter in the area. K9 track with police service dog located the two suspects hiding in a tree line nearby.

The suspects, a 24-year-old male and a 25-year-old male from Detroit, were taken into custody and lodged at the Monroe County Jail without incident.

According to authorities their names are being withheld pending formal arraignment in the 1st District Court.

The case has been turned over to detectives from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
