DETROIT – Detroit has been ranked as having the worst air quality in the world on Thursday after Canadian wildfire smoke blanketed Michigan.
Here’s the list of the top five cities with the worst air quality, as of 11 a.m. on July 16, according to IQAir :
Detroit, USA
Toronto, Canada
Minneapolis, USA
Chicago, USA
Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Here’s the AQI+ US legend:
AQI+ US Ranking 0-50 Good 51-100 Moderate 101-150 Unhealthy for sensitive groups 151-200 Unhealthy 201-300 Very unhealthy 301+ Hazardous
According to IQAir, as of 11:30 a.m. on July 16, Detroit ranks at 724.
AirNow also ranks the Metro Detroit area as having hazardous air quality.
