A program that’s open to the public and supports members of the skilled trades is happening on Wednesday.
The Ignite Detroit Contractors Program is working to boost the number of contractors in Detroit. On July 29, it’s holding a fair with dozens of contractors qualified to do home and commercial projects. They’ve graduated from a program funded by the Gilbert Family Foundation. It’s a chance to connect directly with vetted, qualified contractors.
Calvin McGhee, an electrician who runs his own business, and Dr. Kimle Nailer, also a contractor and program manager for Ignite Detroit, joined Local 4 Live to talk about the need for good contractors and how this program is working to fill that gap.
