Whether your child is hitting the field, court, or track this year, they’re going to push their bodies to the limit, so it’s a good idea to ask if they need a heart screening.
Don’t assume they don’t need one because they are active and healthy. What can be scary is some heart conditions won’t have any symptoms until it’s too late.
The goal of a screening is to know how your child’s heart is doing and find any underlying risks. There’s no one-size-fits-all for this kind of appointment.
Pediatric cardiologist Premchand Anne from Henry Ford Health joined Local 4 Live to walk us through how to approach this and what parents should know.
