This year’s Vote 4 The Best winners have been crowned, and after a record number of votes, you’ve decided which businesses are the best around Metro Detroit.

More than 163,000 votes were cast this year during the finalist portion of Vote 4 The Best. Voting was open for nearly a month, and now it’s time to reveal the winners for our 80 categories.

Watch: Dearborn police provide update after 2 officers shot, notes suspect’s ‘violent history’

The Dearborn Police Department held a press briefing at 11 a.m. Friday to share more details about an overnight incident that left two officers shot and one suspect in critical condition.

Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said the officers were dispatched to the Pantheion Club on Michigan Avenue around 2:15 a.m. after receiving reports of an individual who was brandishing a firearm after reportedly getting into an argument on the premises.

Sterling Heights man convicted in beating death of girlfriend sentenced to life without parole

A Sterling Heights man was sentenced on Thursday to life without the possibility of parole for killing his girlfriend in 2023.

A Macomb County jury convicted Martin Yost, 45, of first-degree murder in June for brutally beating Dhoua Lao, of Sterling Heights, to death.

According to authorities, police found Yost covered in blood and passed out in the driver’s seat of his vehicle in November 2023, with Lao’s body in the passenger seat on Gratiot Avenue, near I-94 in Roseville.

4Warn Weather: Sunshine today before strong storms return Saturday

Waking up to sunshine across Southeast Michigan today before clouds gradually increase later in the day.

Temperatures will climb to around 80 degrees, with comfortable conditions expected for most of the day. An isolated shower can’t be ruled out this evening, but the weather pattern changes Saturday as showers and thunderstorms develop across all of Southeast Michigan.
