FRASER, Mich. – Fraser police have arrested a suspect accused of fatally striking a female motorcyclist on Utica Road Sunday afternoon.
First responders were dispatched to the crash site on southbound Utica Road near French Creek around 3:40 p.m. to find the motorcyclist with severe injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead by emergency hospital staff.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene immediately after the crash. However, police say they were able to use Flock cameras and other investigative efforts to locate and apprehend the driver a short time later.
It’s not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. Criminal charges against the driver are currently being reviewed by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, police said. Additional details about the motorcyclist’s identity have not been shared.
Police are requesting that any witnesses or anyone with information about the crash contact the Fraser Public Safety Department at 586-293-2000 ext. 222. Michigan State Police and the Roseville Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
