WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A Van Buren Township man has been charged with allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend on Thursday.
Damarco Darnell Manns, 31, was charged with second-degree murder, discharge of a firearm in or at a building causing death and two counts of felony firearm.
The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. on Sept. 17 in the 48500 block of the I-94 service drive.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Frances Beatty, 28, lying in the hallway of the apartment building with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, Manns and Beatty were arguing, resulting in Manns allegedly shooting and killing Beatty. The two were living together.
Manns was arraigned in court on Sept. 21 and was denied bond. He is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 29 for a probable cause conference.
