Everything is more expensive these days — and more people are turning to credit cards to get by. A recent WalletHub report looked at 182 U.S. cities, and Detroit came in dead last for credit scores.
The city’s average credit score is 570.
Compare that to Chicago at 630 and Grand Rapids at 634.
But if you need to bring that score up a bit, there is help. Gesher Human Services is teaming up with Huntington Bank to offer a free four-week virtual program for anyone in metro Detroit with a credit score of 600 or lower.
It’s the Home Credit Initiative.
It runs every Thursday, Oct. 8, 15, 22, and 29, from noon to 1 p.m.
When you finish the program, you’ll receive a $750 grant to help pay down debt.
